Connecting schools, young people and community regeneration

Wednesday 5th October 2005

The Scottish Centre for Regeneration is working in partnership with The Scottish Executive to promote the best possible start in life for our young people.

This one day practice event brought together practitioners from the worlds of community regeneration and education, identified common areas of interest, shared “what works”  and proposed practical action to help “close the opportunity gap” for Scotland’s most disadvantaged young people.

Apex Hotel, West Victoria Dock, Dundee

Background

How can education and regeneration professionals work better together? Can we help promote ambition and enterprise by reconnecting with our communities? What practical examples are there of co-operation to promote values, citizenship and learning for life?

This practice event will:

  • Bring together community regeneration and education practitioners
  • Identify shared objectives and common ground for partnership working
  • Focus on practical action around what works in community regeneration and education
  • Share experiences and identify opportunities to work together more closely in future
